UK Information Commissioners Conference 2012
Stef Elliott attended the UK Information Commissioners Conference in Manchester on Tuesday 6th March. The Agenda covered a range of topics and included a keynote speech from Francis Maude -
In his speech (See Transcript) he highlighted a number of factors regarding Transparency, Data Sharing and Privacy concern. He flagged up the McKinsey Report : The next frontier for innovation, competition, and productivity and emphasised the need for companies to develop plans of how to evolve in this constantly changing area.
Other Areas covered included topics such as cloud computing, anonymisation and changes to European legislation. This included guidance on the impending active enforcement of changes to the Privacy & Electronic communications and the Proposed EU reforms to Data Protection.
David Smith from the ICO provided an update on European data protection law and John Morrison gave an overview of the challenges faced by Business & IT departments of issues relating to Cloud computing and the growth of Bring Your Own Device entitled "What did your Execs get for Christmas"
